Bhopal . Now the promoted professors of government colleges will be given Academic Grade Pay (AGP) of Rs 10,000 per month. The Higher Education Department has made this order effective after the Provincial Government College Professors Association withdrew the petition pending in the High Court. On March 4, 2024, the Cabinet had approved giving pay scale of Rs. 37400-67000+10000 AGP to these professors from January 1, 2006. Also, the department was authorized to modify the departmental order of 14 September 2012 and to cancel the departmental order of 19 March 2013. After this, the department had issued orders for AGP of Rs 10,000 with the condition of withdrawal of the petition by the professors association in September 2024. About 5 thousand professors of the state will get the benefit of increase in AGP.
Four petitions were filed in the High Court regarding increasing the AGP of promoted professors from Rs 9000 to Rs 10000. Of these, 3 petitions were disposed off by the High Court. Whereas the Provincial Government College Professors Association withdrew the petition. The Higher Education Department issued orders in September 2024, but there was a condition of withdrawal of the petition and due to the petition filed by the government and the Direct Recruitment Professors Association, that order was not being followed. President of the Provincial Government College Professors Association, Prof. Kailash Tyagi again went to the High Court. The High Court disposed off all the three petitions filed by the government and the Direct Recruitment Professors Association.
10 thousand rupees were received in 30 months
The 6th pay scale has been implemented in the state from January 1, 2006. In which it was decided to give AGP of Rs 10,000 per month to the professors. The professors were given only Rs 10,000 per month for the first 30 months, but the then Commissioner of Higher Education Department reduced it to Rs 9,000. The prescribed procedure for this was also not completed. This order was challenged in the High Court by the Provincial Government College Professors Association.
