18 non -Hindu employees holiday from Tirupati temple, TTD took big action


Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, the governing body of Tirupati temple, has taken action against 18 non-Hindu employees. All of them have been asked to take transfer or Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS). The board said that this decision is in line with its commitment to maintain the spiritual purity of its temples and religious activities.

Because of this decision taken
Orders for disciplinary action have been issued against 18 employees who have allegedly participated in non-Hindu religious activities along with participating in TTD festivals and rituals. It is written in the order that it has been decided to remove these employees for the sanctity of Lord Venkateswara temple.

What did TTD chairman say?
The TTD Board has recently resolved to transfer such employees to government departments or take them out through voluntary retirement scheme (VRS). TTD chairman BR Naidu said that this step has been taken keeping in mind the sanctity of the temple.

Employees have to choose an option
The TTD board has resolved to either transfer these employees to government departments or take them out through VRS. Earlier in November 2024, the TTD board also passed another resolution, under which non-Hindus employed by the board would have to either take voluntary retirement or choose the option of transfer to other government departments in Andhra Pradesh.

Talking, the chairman of TTD said, ‘I presented a proposal on the board yesterday. The board has unanimously accepted it. We have identified some people (TTD employees), who are non-Hindu… I wanted to meet those people personally and request them to take VRS. If they are not interested, we will transfer them to revenue or other government departments like a municipality or any corporation.

Another proposal of the board
The board has also passed a resolution prohibiting political statements within Tirumala. In which it has been said that legal action will be taken against those who propagate the violations as well as those who promote them. TTD maintains 12 temples and sub-temples and employs more than 14 thousand people.
