
Guwahati. The huge collective of the tribal community of Assam’s tea garden was held in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the ‘Jhumor Binandini’ folk dance program. PM Modi, while narrating his deep relationship with Assam through tea, said that who knows the fragrance and color of tea better than a tea seller?
He said that the Northeast has chosen me as its best brand ambassador. Prime Minister Modi on Monday participated in the ‘Jhumor Binandini’ program by the Assam government at the Sarusjai Stadium in Guwahati, which is being celebrated to commemorate the completion of 200 years of the tea industry here.
CM welcomed PM Modi
On reaching PM Modi here, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and participants welcomed him. On this occasion, PM Modi said that in this tremendous preparation there is the fragrance and beauty of tea gardens and just as your tea garden has a special relationship with culture, so I also have a special relationship with tea gardens. When all of you artists present such a large number of Jhumor dance, it is becoming a record in itself.
PM also played traditional instruments Dhumsa
On this occasion, PM Modi also played the traditional instrument of Assam, which usually plays the tribal farmers working in the tea garden. About nine thousand dancers and musicians from 27 districts of Assam participated in the unprecedented demonstration of the traditional folk dance of the state’s tea tribes. The event is expected to set up world records and highlight the rich cultural heritage of Assam on the global stage.
200th anniversary of tea industry
The world’s largest jhumor dance was performed in this program to be held on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of Assam’s tea industry. The Prime Minister said that I am the first Prime Minister to stay in Kaziranga, Assam, to tell the world about his biodiversity. We have also given Assamia a classical language status a few months ago.
Assam reached more than 60 ambassadors from different countries
The PM said that the people of Assam were waiting for this honor of their language for decades. He said that these grand events are associated with the pride of Assam and represent the rich diversity of India. More than 60 ambassadors from different countries have come here to experience Assam. Charidev Moidam of Assam has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The efforts of the BJP government contributed significantly in achieving this recognition.
