Mumbai Maharashtra Police has arrested Dattatreya Ramdas Gade, an accused who raped the woman at the Swargate bus station in Pune. 13 teams were searching for the history -sheeter accused. In this campaign, help from investigative dogs to drones was taken.
After about 70 hours, the police arrested the accused from Shivar of Gunat village of Shirur Tehsil, Pune. The accused has been identified in the name of Dattatraya Ramdas Gade.
A reward of 1 lakh was on the head
The police also announced a reward of one lakh to the person who gave the clue of the accused. On February 25, Gade raped a 26 -year -old girl in a state transport bus at 6 am at Swargate, the busiest bus station in Pune.
Identified with CCTV cameras
The police have identified the accused with CCTV cameras installed at the bus station. In the camera, he is seen going towards the bus standing at a deserted place with the young woman.
The accused was hidden in sugarcane fields
Police say that after the incident, the accused hid in a vegetable truck and reached his village Gunat.
After reaching home, he changed clothes and shoes and ran away. The police suspected that he was hiding in the sugarcane fields around the village.
On Thursday afternoon, several senior police officers and more than 100 policemen reached Gunat village and conducted a search operation in the fields with the help of investigative dogs and drones.
The accused was a history -sheeter
The police have detained a woman close to Gade for questioning. He told that the thugs often harassed many women and asked for their phone numbers through him. According to the police, about half a dozen cases like pulling and theft are already registered on the gade.
Rape was done in the bus
Pune’s Swargate Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) which is one of the largest bus depots, while this rape incident happened. According to the victim, she was waiting for the bus on a platform for the clutch of Satara district at around 5:45 am on Tuesday morning, when the Gade got entangled in talks.
The Gade started calling her ‘Didi’ and started saying that the bus has come on another platform for Satara. He took her to an empty ‘Shiva Shahi’ AC bus standing elsewhere. Since the lights inside the bus were not burning, he hesitated to board the bus, but the man assured him that this is the right vehicle.
The woman working in the medical area told the police that after this the thick also boarded the bus and raped her.
