MBM leader Raghu Mediami arrested in terrorist funding case, NIA detained


The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested the top leader of a frontal organization associated with the banned CPI (Maoist) terrorist organization in the terrorist funding case in Chhattisgarh. Native Bachao Manch (MBM) leader Raghu Mediami was detained by the NIA on Thursday in the RC-02/2023/NIA/RPR case. The Chhattisgarh police had earlier arrested two accused in this case in November 2023 and filed a charge sheet against them, which was taken up by the NIA in February 2024.

The police had recovered Rs 6 lakh cash from both the accused, who were identified as members of MBM/OGW (over ground worker).

Maoist leader had connection with MBM
Later investigation revealed that Raghu is the leader of Mediami MBM. This organization is engaged in money collection, storage and distribution for CPI (Maoist), so that their anti -India agenda can be carried forward.

According to the NIA investigation, Raghu was a nodal person for distribution of funds at the local level for protests led by Mediaomi CPI (Maoist).

Red at many locations in the murder of BJP leader
On the other hand, the NIA on Monday searched several locations of Naxalite suspects in Chhattisgarh in the murder of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Birju Ram Taram.

The NIA team searched six places in District Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh outpost and border Maharashtra in Chhattisgarh and seized mobile phones, laptops and printers as well as other objectionable materials and documents from the suspects of the suspects.

As part of the NIA investigation in the case, searches were conducted in the residence of prohibited terrorist organization and residential complexes of Overground Workers (OGW).

The CPI (Maoist) armed cadres involved in the brutal murder of supporters and Birju Taram on OGW were suspected to be involved in giving shelter, shelter and providing logistics aid. The BJP leader was shot dead in October 2023 with an INSAS rifle.
