Bodla: A case of fraud worth lakhs of rupees has come to light in Bodla police station area of Kawardha district due to misuse of the banking system. Police have arrested three accused including an employee of SBI Bank Bodla in this case. These accused used to commit fraud by using inactive bank accounts and preparing fake documents.
This case is not only a fraud but also a clear example of failure of the banking system. The arrested accused include Prateek Uike, Sanjay Prakash Jarike, Nishant Kumar and Suraj Sharma. Of these, the main accused Prateek Uike has already been arrested. All the accused were presented in the court on Monday.
Fraud of Rs 1.46 lakh in the account of the deceased
According to the FIR lodged at Bodla police station, bank employee Prateek Uike misused the dormant accounts and systematically defrauded the account of deceased Deepa Ahirwar. He prepared a fake application by manipulating the CIF number and then got a new ATM card issued claiming it from RBI. A total amount of Rs 1.46 lakh was withdrawn using this card.
Fraud of three lakh rupees targeting fixed deposits
According to the FIR lodged at Bodla police station, fraud was done by making a fake ATM card in the name of Mangli Bai. 82 thousand rupees were withdrawn from this account, out of which 40 thousand rupees were withdrawn in cash and the remaining 40 thousand rupees were transferred through green channel. Apart from this, the accused cheated Chhitar Singh by transferring his fixed deposit amount of Rs 2.40 lakh to Mangli Bai’s account. The accused in this case include Suraj Sharma and Nishant.
Superintendent of Police alerted people
The Superintendent of Police has advised citizens to remain alert. He said that everyone should check their bank accounts regularly and review the status of inoperative accounts and fixed deposits from time to time.
