Jaipur. Another student committed suicide in Kota, Rajasthan. So far this year, 19 students have committed suicide in the state. On Friday, Lokesh, a student from Mannar Bhikampura district Vaishali, Bihar committed suicide. The deceased student was hanged in a private hostel room in Vigyan Nagar, Kota. The deceased student lived in a hostel.
The student had come to Kota eight months ago to prepare for the JEE exam. After getting information about the student’s suicide, Vigyan Nagar police is investigating the matter. Vigyan Nagar police station officer Mukesh Meena said that the police is investigating the reasons for the suicide.
The incident happened despite the fan in the hostel room being fitted with an anti-hanging device to prevent suicide. Police suspect it to be a case of suicide, however, no suicide note has been recovered from the room and the reason behind the minor taking such a drastic step is not yet known.
Circle Inspector Mukesh Meena of Vigyan Nagar police station said that the 16-year-old boy studying in class 11, resident of Vaishali district of Bihar, was preparing for IIT-JEE in a coaching institute in Kota since April this year. This is the 17th case of suicide by coaching students in Kota since January this year. The city saw 26 cases of suicide by coaching students in 2023.
