5 gang accused arrested so far
Bhopal . Crime Branch Indore has arrested another member of the inter-state gang that cheated crores of rupees in the name of investment in the Forex market. Till now, a total of 5 gang accused have been arrested in this case from Nagpur (Maharashtra), Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Surat and Bharuch (Gujarat). Recently arrested accused Hiren Patel (37) is an active member of the gang, who used to send the fraudulent amount to the gang leaders in Dubai using fake bank accounts.
Method of fraud and details of incident
The complainant had lodged a complaint that he was added to a WhatsApp group, where the gang members lured him with huge profits in Forex trading. The accused made the complainant download a software called Mstock Max, in which fake profits were shown. Initially they were lured by showing them a fake profit of Rs 40,000 on an investment of Rs 10,000. After this the complainant transferred Rs 4.85 crore to the bank accounts specified by the gang. When the complainant tried to withdraw the money after showing fake profit of Rs 16 crore in the software, the amount was not withdrawn and the gang broke contact with him.
Police action so far
The crime branch had already arrested four accused in this case. Recently, the fifth accused Hiren Patel was arrested from Bharuch district of Gujarat. During interrogation, he told that he created a fake company named Manav Enterprises and transferred Rs 50 lakh to the gang’s accounts. Of these, Rs 30 lakh was sent to Dubai.
Recovery and investigation status
The Crime Branch has so far recovered Rs 75 lakh from the complainant, and has frozen Rs 70 lakh in various bank accounts, which will be returned after the court process. Interrogation of the accused is going on to find out other gang associates and their network.
