This year too, during the winter season, bonfires are being lit by the Municipal Corporation near Pendry Medical College, New Bus Stand, Mahavir Chowk, Post Office Chowk and Railway Station to protect the poor and laborers of the city from the harsh cold. In case of extreme cold, the corporation will also arrange bonfires at other public places and intersections of the city.
Giving the above information, Corporation Commissioner Atul Vishwakarma said that keeping in mind the extreme cold, bonfire is lit every year by the Municipal Corporation to protect the poor and laborers from the cold wave in Rajnandgaon, in this context, this year the cold will increase in the winter season. But bonfires are being lit near Pendri Medical College, New Bus Stand, Mahavir Chowk, Post Office Chowk and Railway Station. He said that in view of increasing cold, bonfires have been organized for citizens at other public places of the city like Old Bus Stand, Ambedkar Chowk, Th. Pyarelal Chowk, near Gurudwara, near Chikhli Deshmukh Hotel, Nandai Chowk and other public places. Arrangements will be made. Keeping in mind the cold, he has given instructions to the in-charge to keep the bonfires being lit at important places of the city burning till late night.
Commissioner Shri Vishwakarma appealed to the citizens and said that the cold is increasing, hence do not go out of the house unnecessarily at night, if you go out for any reason, wear warm clothes, muffler and cap. In case of cold, cough, fever or any other unwell condition due to cold, get medical examination done. He also asked the temporary residents under the flyover to stay in the night shelter of the corporation to save themselves from the cold.
