Bhopal: Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, tap water has been provided to every family in 7 thousand 62 villages of Madhya Pradesh. Out of these, Madhya Pradesh ranks first in the number of villages declared certified by the Central Jal Shakti Ministry. 2 thousand 396 villages of the state are certified.
Under the mission, water availability has been ensured through tap connections at the homes of more than 54 lakh 86 thousand rural families of Madhya Pradesh. Work is being done fast on water supply schemes costing about Rs 50 thousand crore. In the mission for the state, 45.69 percent achievement has been achieved in the overall target of providing tap connections to the rural population.
The state has consistently maintained its good position among the 12 big states in the country with an annual target of more than 20 lakhs. Among these 12 states, the state is at the second position in providing 100% “Har Ghar Jal” to maximum number of villages. Arrangements have also been made to make water available through tap connections in 41 thousand 373 Anganwadis and 71 thousand 423 schools operating in the rural areas of the state. So far, 100 to 90 percent work in 4277 villages, 90 to 80 percent in 2089 villages, 80 to 70 in 1595 villages and 70 to 60 percent progress of water supply schemes in 14 thousand 921 villages.
