New Delhi . Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who arrived in Delhi with the intention of strengthening opposition unity ahead of the general elections, met CPIM general secretary Sitaram Yechury on Tuesday. After the meeting, Nitish Kumar said that his priority is to save democracy. When asked by journalists about his discussion with Yechury, Nitish Kumar said that we have told him that if the Left, regional parties from different states and the Congress come together, then it will be of great benefit to the opposition unity. He reiterated that it is our endeavor to bring together whatever regional parties we are in the entire country. If they get together, then it will be a big deal.
After meeting Nitish, CPI(M) leader Yechury said that he is welcome to come here once again and it is a better signal towards the country. Yechury said that the opposition parties will have to unite and save the Constitution of the country. For this our first task is that everyone has to be united. At the same time, Nitish has said that we are all together, that’s why I have come here. Earlier, Nitish Kumar had met former Congress President Rahul Gandhi, after which the Congress has also praised Nitish Kumar. The Congress has clearly said that the efforts being made by them to defeat the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections are commendable.
Let us inform that in the past, Nitish broke the alliance with the BJP and formed the government with the Grand Alliance. Nitish is leading the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar which includes Congress, RJD and Left parties. The round of political speculations about Nitish’s visit to Delhi continues. On the other hand, BJP has also made it clear that now its doors are permanently closed for Nitish. Sushil Modi, BJP leader and once considered close to Nitish, said that the JD(U) leader has put to shame even the chameleon for changing its colours. Sushil Modi said that Nitish Kumar had started feeling suffocated in the alliance with Rashtriya Janata Dal for 20 months. Then it can happen. But this time BJP will not go with him.
