New Delhi: One of the biggest production houses of Bollywood, Yash Raj Films is all set to bring to the screens a superhero movie starring Ajay Devgn. On the completion of 50 golden years in the Hindi film industry, the production house will celebrate the occasion by revealing the YRF Project 50 blueprint on September 27. YRF has films lined up with many Bollywood stars including Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Vicky Kaushal and others. According to reports, YRF is coming up with a superhero saga with Ajay Devgn.
The superhero movie will be directed by Shiv Rawail, a debutant and will be co-starring Ahaan Pandey. The budget of the film will closely touch the Rs 180 crore mark.
A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Being a superhero film, YRF has allotted Rs. 90 crores budget to the cost of production of the film in addition to the print and publicity expenditure and Ajay Devgn’s acting fees. Taking a tentative figure for both the expenses, the approx. budget of the film will come closer to the Rs. 180 crore mark, which is also among the costliest film for Ajay Devgn till date.”
The ’Drishyam’ actor will reportedly play a negative role in the upcoming flick. This will be Devgn’s maiden film with the production house. The superhero film has also been planned as a franchise with Ahaan Pandey as the protagonist of the movie.
The source further told the same portal, “It’s a template like Dhoom, however in the superhero universe. The character of baddie will be like a hero in the franchise, and more like a central character in every film. The franchise is also a long term launch plan for Ahaan, making it the most expensive and extensive launch till date in Hindi film history. Ajay’s character is said to be fantastic with phenomenal action, acting and screen time.”
Other than this, Ajay Devgn will be next seen in the biographical sports film ‘Maidaan’ which is slated to release on August 13, 2021. His film ‘Bhuj: The Pride Of India’ will premiere directly on Disney+ Hostar in the next few months.
