Kanker: Farmers are worried about selling their crops due to non-upliftment of paddy in Cooperative Society Limited Koylibeda. Under Koylibeda Lapas, farmers sell paddy in Murnar, Koylibeda, Siksod and sub-centre Panidobir. Angered by the closure of procurement, the farmers submitted a memorandum directly to the Chief Minister in the Tehsil office and applied to start regular procurement soon.
Paddy procurement is being done with half-baked preparations
Farmers demand that gunny bags should be made available in sufficient quantity, if the miller’s gunny bags are torn or old then all new gunny bags should be made available. Every grain of farmers’ produce should be purchased. Farmers said that if paddy procurement does not start within three days, there will be a fierce agitation. The farmer said that the government talks about buying each grain of farmers’ produce for Rs 3100. Paddy is being procured with incomplete preparation due to which farmers are facing problems. The gunny bags being provided by Miller are of very poor quality. Paddy is getting wasted due to it being torn and old. The government should resolve every aspect by discussing extensively with the operator and the miller and start paddy procurement soon.
lack of space
More than the buffer limit has been purchased at the coal fleet procurement centre. There is shortage of space. Despite issuance of TO for three thousand three hundred quintals, only 920 quintals have been transported. In such a situation, it is not appropriate to continue purchasing paddy.
Despite the demand for old gunny bags, gunny bags are not available and even if available, they are of poor quality, due to which procurement is being affected. The operators have gone on strike since December 12 against outsourcing. Farmers demand that procurement should be started as soon as possible. During this time, hundreds of farmers registered under Koylibeda Lapas were present.
Government is not able to buy paddy from farmers
Block Secretary of Bhanupratappur United Farmers Union, Birendra Koreti took stock of the farmers and procurement centers. He said that ever since paddy procurement has started, farmers are facing problems due to non-availability of tokens, gunny bags and non-upliftment of paddy. Whereas paddy procurement has been stopped for 3-4 days.
