
In Karnataka, the linguistic dispute is seen catching up once again. Karnataka Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Monday expressed his support for bus conductor Mahadevappa Hawakari, who was allegedly attacked in Belagavi for not speaking in Marathi. He also said that his department and people of the state are standing with hookahs. The incident took place last week on Friday when a young man and a girl climbed into the bus. During this time, the bus conductor asked for a ticket from him, then the boy replied in Marathi language.
Attack on not speaking Marathi
On this, the bus conductor told them that they do not understand the Marathi language and asked them to respond in Kannada and ask for tickets, the angry young man immediately called his friends and attacked him and the driver. 5 people associated with the eagle case of complaining against the attack were arrested. The minor girl traveling with the accused youth has also lodged a complaint with the police that the hookheri had treated her indecently.
POCSO Case intentionally: Minister
Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy told reporters after meeting the conductor in the hospital, there were about 90 people in the bus. Everyone is saying that a case of POCSO has been intentionally registered against the conductor. Reddy further said, we are with all local leaders, citizens, media and people of the state with conductor Mahadevappa hookahsi. At the same time, the minister expressed dissatisfaction over the police action in this case.
Reddy said, after coming here (Belagavi), I came to know that at least 15 people were involved in the attack on hookahs, but only 5 people have been arrested. While other accused people should also be arrested. If we leave them without any punishment, then they will be involved in such activities even further.
Police should take immediate action: Home Minister
This attack on the bus conductor has once again rejected the decades -old border dispute between Maharashtra and Karnataka. In the past, there have been attacks on bus drivers and conductors of state road transport corporations of Maharashtra and Karnataka. Talking to reporters in Tumkuru, State Home Minister Ji Parmeshwar requested the Maharashtra government to take action against those involved in such incidents. He further said, there have often been disputes on the basis of language in Belagavi on the Maharashtra border. We have to move forward with caution. This applies to both Maharashtra and Karnataka states because we should not let it move forward. God emphasized that Karnataka should take immediate action in cases related to such incidents and requested Maharashtra to do the same.
