Bhopal : If any consumer has any complaint like meter, its reading, billing or electricity interruption, then they can immediately call on the call center’s phone number 1912 or online website portal.mpcz.in or Remedy (UPAY) app or in electricity distribution center/zone office. You can file a complaint. Suitable arrangements have been made for redressal of consumer complaints. If consumers under the influence of mischievous elements sabotage or uproot the meter, install it elsewhere or damage the service line, then action will be taken against them under section 136 of the Electricity Act, 2003. It is punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years, or with fine which may extend to ten thousand rupees, or with both.
Section 136 of the Electricity Act, 2003 provides that ‘without the consent of the licensee or the owner, any electric line, material or meter shall be removed or taken away or replaced, whether or not such work is done for profit or gain’ , then it will be treated as an offense of theft of electrical lines and material.
