
There was an important meeting in India and Bangladesh today regarding border security. After the fall of Sheikh Hasina government, India-Bangladesh appeared on a platform for the first time. Border Guard Bangladesh chief Major General Mohammad Ashrafajjam Siddiqui has made a big statement on the occasion.
Decreased infiltration on the border
Siddiqui said that attacks on minorities in Bangladesh have been exaggerated. Along with this, in a joint press conference with BGB chief, BSF DG DS Chaudhary said that the infiltration on the Indo-Bangladesh border has come down significantly after August 5.
Security of minorities will be ensured
Siddiqui said that we have received many requests for protection from minorities in Bangladesh, we have assured India of help.
Discussion on border fencing
The BGB chief further said that there has been a discussion on fences on the Indo-Bangladesh border. He said that we have requested a joint inspection wherever there is a problem in the meeting with India. However, he also made it clear that there was no discussion on re-implementing the Indo-Bangladesh border treaty of 1975 in the meeting.
