The Railway Board has extended the deadline for installation of automatic train security system ‘armor’ on Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Kolkata route from March to December 2025.
Work will be completed by March 2025
According to the budget documents shared by the board, the process of planting equipment for the armor version 4.0 on the three thousand kilometers of New Delhi-Mumbai and New Delhi-Kolkata will be completed by December 2025. The Railway Ministry had said on August 7 last year that the work of equipping this route with armor would be completed by March 2025.
According to the budget document, Indian Railways has adopted indigenously developed armor in 2020 as a national ATP system. In July 2024, the indigenous development specification for the Kavach Edition 4.0 was approved. The work of planting armor on 10 thousand engines has started.
Armor a complex technology
According to the Railways, armor is a complex technology, which includes several components. Such as RFID tag to be installed on the entire railway line, telecom tower throughout the section, optical fiber cable with tracks and loco armor on each locomotive.

Railway sources said that the work of planting armor is going on on the basis of mission on Indian railway network. The latest version of the armor i.e. 4.0 was approved by the Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO) in July 2024.
Vande will join India many more districts
This is 18 times more than the tenure of the UPA government in 2009-2014. This will make new stations, new tracks, multi -tracking of tracks etc. 5,200 km of tracks have been laid during the last 10 years in UP including North Central Railway. The number of such long tracks in a state is higher than the total rail network of Switzerland or Belgium in Europe. This year there will be an investment of Rs 1,04,000 crore in the entire UP. Many nectar stations will be built, new railway tracks will be laid. Right now 20 districts of UP have been added through 14 Vande India. Further, this number will increase further.
Amrit Bharat trains will be constructed
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on Saturday that the government’s efforts to improve the railways in the budget have been continued. For this, Rs 2.52 lakh crore has been allocated and projects such as 17,500 general coaches, 200 Vande Bharat and 100 Amrit Bharat trains have been approved.
