
Guwahati . The bodies of five more miners trapped in the coal mine in Dima Hasao district of Assam have been recovered. The bodies of the miners have been taken out of the mine, 44 days after the disappearance in the mine.
An official informed this on Thursday. During the rescue operation, three bodies were recovered late in the evening, while two bodies were recovered earlier in the day. The bodies of all the nine miners trapped there were recovered on 6 January with the latest seizure. The work of extracting water in the mine in Umrangashu was going on for more than a month and on Wednesday, the campaign to remove the bodies of miners started due to the low water level in the mine.
The bodies were badly recovered in a rotten street, which were taken out by the divers. The official said that the bodies have not been identified yet and its process has been started. On January 6, nine laborers were trapped by filling water inside the mine and the body of one was recovered after two days, while the bodies of three others were found on 11 January. The miners whose bodies were recovered earlier, the Assam government has given a grace of Rs 10 lakh to their families and the families of the people trapped in the mine were given six lakh rupees. The state government had announced that a total of Rs 10 lakh will be given to the families of all the people trapped in the mine.
