Kerala Revenue Minister K. Rajan on Saturday described the terms of a loan of Rs 529.50 crore for the Wayanad Rehabilitation by the Center as scary and cruel joke. He said that it is clear from the amount released by the Center for rehabilitation of Wayanad that the central government’s attitude towards landslide victims in Wayanad and Kerala has not changed. Rajan said that the Center has imposed strict conditions with loans, instead of giving Kerala unconditionally financial assistance, it is mandatory to use the entire amount by 31 March.
Charges of Wayanad people
Also, some disaster affected people of Wayanad have expressed their disappointment in the case. He said that he is disappointed and alleged that the central and state governments are throwing them from one court to another. He said that when the Prime Minister came here and promised all possible help, we had expectations, but now we have been given only the loan.
State government told practical problem
In the case, the state Finance Minister KN Balagopal also described the condition of using the entire amount as a practical problem by 31 March. According to this, it is necessary to send the amount released from the center to the implementation agencies within 10 working days. If it is delayed, the state will have to pay interest.
At the same time, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly VD Satishan also criticized the Center’s decision and described it as impractical. He said that the Center is trying to lift it up, pretending to help Kerala. Let us know that this loan was approved for the rehabilitation of more than 200 people killed in July 2023 in Wayanad, Kerala last year, which was criticized by the Center.
