Islamabad. Two canteens in Pakistan’s parliament have been sealed after complaints of cockroaches being found. Islamabad district administration officials, during the investigation on two cafeterias located in the Parliament House, the MPs informed about the mess spread in the canteen. The MPs complained that cockroaches had been found several times in the food they were served.
On inspection, the officials found a lot of dirt and cockroaches in the kitchen. After which two canteens were sealed. This is not the first time that cockroaches have been seen in the Parliament of Pakistan. Earlier in the year 2014, a dead cockroach was also found inside the bottle of ketchup. In 2019 too, MPs raised questions over the violation of several rules related to the quality and hygiene standards of the food being served in these cafeterias.
There was a complaint of rats roaming in the Parliament Lodge of Pakistan. Rats are often seen roaming in the canteen of the Parliament. Notices have been issued several times on the deteriorating condition of the canteen in Parliament, but the situation remains the same. The officials have said that action will be taken against both the sealed canteen operators.
