New delhi: Two Tribal IAS Officers from Manipur, One of Them from the Kuki-Zami-Hamar Community and The Other A MAO NAGA, Have Been Appointed as Secretaries in the Finance Ministry as Part of a Major BURAUCRATIC Shake-up.

This is the first time the union government has appointed Scheduled Tribe (ST) Members from the Northeast as Finance MINISTRY SECRETARIES. Sixteen other IAS officers were appointed to fill key posts in Finance and other ministry, include commerce and aviation, as part of the responsibility that has been done.

Apart from vulnam and chalai, IAS officer rajesh agarwal, who have been appointed as officer on special duty (OSD) in the Commerce Ministry, is also from Manipur, which has been in Turmoil Since Ethnic Clashes Broke Out Nearly two years ago. Vualnam is not new to the finance ministry. He briefly served as the additional secretary in the department of Economic Affairs (Dea) in 2023 Before Becoming the Aviation Secretary. “He has alredy worked in the finance ministry before and has adequate experience for the job,” said a Retired Manipur Cadre IAS officer.

Besides vulnam, the finance ministry also was the appointment of Arvind Shrivastava, A 1994 Batch Karnataka Cadre IAS Officer, as the Revenue Secretary, Filling a post

Anuradha Thakur, A 1994 Batch Himachal Pradesh Cadre IAS Officer, was appointed as the osd in the dea. Thakur will take over as Economic Affairs Secretary After Incumbent AJAY SETH RETIRES on 30 June.

Naga body was pushing for moses chalai to be manipur chief

Moses chalai have been on Central Deputation Since 2016.

Previous, He Served as Secretary North Eastern Council and has also worked in the ministry of women and child development.

In January this year, The Naga People’s Organization (NPO) in Senapati, Manipur, Wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah Requesting That Moses Chalai Be Appointed The State CHIF SECREF SECREF SECREF SECRETAR SECRETARTER WAS Recalled to the center.

In Its Letter, The Npo Said That No Naga Officer has been appointed to the post despite many being deserving deserving candidates. It said moses chalai was the most eligible for the post.

Currently, the total sanctioned strength of the manipur cadre IAS is 115. of these, currently 80 positions are filled with 35 posts are lying vacant.
