
Udaipur. This year of Indian Railways i.e. in 2025, 100 years of electrification are being completed. With this, India is moving towards 100 percent electrification of its broad gauge network. This achievement is not only a symbol of the technological development of the country but is also an important step towards India’s sustainable transport and energy security.
Government of India will release a coin of 100 rupees
It is noteworthy that on 16 April 1853, the train ran for the first time in India and on 3 February 1925, the first power train ran from Victoria Terminus in Mumbai to Kurla. To make this historical occasion memorable, the Government of India is going to issue a colorful monument coin of Rs 100.
Color coin will be released for the first time
According to Sudhir Lunavat of Bikaner, a collection and studying coins, this is the first time that a colorful monument coin will be released in the country. The Gazette notification has also been issued on 4 March 2025 to issue this coin by the Department of Economic Affairs, Government of India, Government of India.
The total weight of the coin will be 35 grams
The total weight of this coin will be 35 grams, with 50 percent silver, 40 percent copper and 5-5 percent nickel and zinc mixture. On one side of the coin, there will be a colorful picture of the train engine depicting electrification, above which will be written in Hindi and on the lower circumference, 100 years of electrification of Indian Railways in English.
The year 1925-2025 will be written under the colored picture
The year 1925-2025 will be written below this colorful picture. On the other side of the coin, the price class will be written 100 with the symbol of rupee under the Ashoka Pillar and India will be written in the right and left Hindi and English language of the Ashoka Pillar. According to Sudhir Lunavat, there is a lot of enthusiasm among the people including people associated with Indian Railways regarding this first colorful memorial coin.
