
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah reached Gangtok in Sikkim on Friday. Hundreds of people came here to welcome him on the roadside. After this Amit Shah reached the Raj Bhavan in Gangtok and inaugurated the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. State Governor Ganga Prasad was also present during this.
As per the schedule, Home Minister Shah inaugurated the Eastern and North-Eastern Region Dairy Cooperative Conference in Gangtok. During this, Amit Shah said, the Narendra Modi government has decided to set up about 65,000 active PACS (Primary Agricultural Credit Societies). We have decided that within 5 years each panchayat will have one PACS and one dairy. He said, till now the cooperative has been run by the Joint Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, but the Ministry of Cooperation should be discussed for this work to empower the farmers, craftsmen, fishermen, tribals of the country through cooperatives. Shah said, in 75 years of independence, Northeast was considered only as a tourist destination, but the real development of Northeast started after Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister.
