Bilaspur. The High Court has ordered to pay the amount illegally recovered in the name of pension calculation of retired semi-skilled workers of the Public Works Department along with 8 percent interest within 7 days. After the notice was issued from the High Court, the officials submitted their reply and accepted to return the amount.
Deendayal Shriwas, resident of Hassaud, Janjgir Champa district, was appointed as semi-skilled laborer in the Public Works Department. The petitioner retired on 30 April 2017. District Accounts Officer Janjgir directed that the petitioner will have to deposit Rs 1,52,624/- for pension calculation. On this, the petitioner deposited the amount in November 2017. Upon the petitioner’s knowledge that illegal recovery has been made from him. On this, the petitioner submitted a representation to Collector Janjgir Champa demanding return of the deposited amount. When there was no decision on his application, he presented a petition in the High Court through advocate Yogesh Chandra. The petition was heard in the court of Justice Rakesh Mohan Pandey. The High Court issued notice to the respondents and sought their reply. The Accountant General and the District Accounts Officer submitted a reply in the court and said that the respondent is ready to return the amount of Rs 152624 recovered from the petitioner. Keeping in mind the request of the respondent authorities, the court has ordered to return the amount recovered from the petitioner along with 8 percent annual interest within 7 days. With this the court has rejected the petition.
