Bilaspur. On the instructions of Collector Avnish Sharan, action was taken against middlemen and brokers. Revenue and Food Department officials raided half a dozen shops. 1112 bags of paddy were seized in the raid. Whose price is estimated to be around Rs 14 lakh. Illegal storage of paddy was done with the intention of consuming it in the societies. The Collector has asked to keep an eye on the seized paddy so that it is not sold at the centres.
Food officer said that today under the guidance of SDM Bilha, action was taken under the Mandi Act by seizing 370 bags (148 quintals) of paddy at Jai Shri Krishna Traders in Chakarbhatha. Similarly, the Food and Market Department seized 73 bags from Sipat resident retail trader Indra Verma’s Maa Provision Stores and 69 bags from the establishment of Shivgopal Sahu, totaling 142 bags, about 56.80 quintals of paddy under the Mandi Act. Action was taken under the Mandi Act by seizing 150 bags (60 quintals) of paddy at Suresh Paddy Store in Chakarbhatha. No market fee receipt and stock register was made available on the spot in relation to 450 kati (180 quintals) of paddy in firm Satyaprakash Dubey in village Gobripat in Tehsil Kota. Due to which paddy was confiscated and a Panchnama was prepared to charge 5 times the market fee under the Mandi Act. This way the action will continue further also.
