Indore: A campaign is being run to make Indore a beggar-free city. In the first phase of the campaign, which started in February, beggars and their families were advised not to beg till August. Beggars are being rescued from September to December. Now from the new year, punitive action will be started against those begging and giving in Indore. In the ongoing campaign to make clean city Indore a beggar-free city, the third phase will be started from January 1. In this, action will be initiated against those begging and giving.
Till now more than 300 have been sent to Ujjain Sevadham Ashram.
Collector Ashish Singh has already issued orders for punitive action against those giving alms. Beggars are being rescued in the second phase of the campaign which started in three phases. Till now, more than three hundred elderly and adults have been rescued and sent to Sevadham Ashram in Ujjain. At the same time, 34 child beggars have also been rescued. The Collector has now given instructions to start the third phase of the campaign.

It is noteworthy that the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has started a pilot project to make ten cities of the country beggar free. Indore has also been included in this. To make Indore beggar free, teams have been formed involving seven departments. These teams are continuously taking action in the city.
