Surajpur: In village Jamdei under development block Surajpur of the district, the total cost of the Jal Jeevan Mission Scheme, an ambitious scheme of the Government of India, is Rs. 74.29 Lakh 02 Nos. 85 Kl. Capacity and 35 Kl. Water is being supplied to 526 houses in the entire village through a high level reservoir of capacity and 02 nos. 5000 liters and 5000 liters solar based scheme. The objective of this scheme is to provide pure drinking water to the homes of every rural family and to provide complete water certification to every household in the villages. Similarly, another scheme of the government is Swachh Bharat Mission whose aim is to ensure complete cleanliness of the village and to make it an ODF Plus Model Village. This is also being successfully implemented in village Jamdei.
Before the arrival of Jal Jeevan Mission in this Jamdei village, the villagers were mainly dependent on hand pumps and wells for their water needs. The villagers were not even aware of whether the water was potable or not, hence, water borne diseases kept occurring from time to time and to fill the water, the women had to line up from the tube well (head pump). Due to which a lot of time of the day was spent just in arranging and filling water. During summer, lack of water in the hand pump became a big problem for the villagers.
Gulabi, resident of School Para, Jamdei, says that earlier we used to have a lot of problem of drinking water, ever since tap has been installed in our house through Jal Jeevan Mission, water comes twice a day for two hours in the morning and evening. Due to which sufficient quantity of drinking water is available for our family. All of us villagers are very happy with this Jal Jeevan Mission. Now we neither have to use hand pumps nor wells to drink water. Due to which our time is saved and we can do other work. Are able to devote time to the upbringing of their children. He and all the villagers thank Jal Jeevan Mission, Government of India and Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai for this.
Apart from Jal Jeevan Mission, Swachh Bharat Mission, in which work was going on in the village for about 6 years, has now been completed and the village has come under the category of ODF Plus model, in which toilets in all houses, soak pits in community hand pumps, NABARD Tank, Gothan, running water in government buildings, community toilets, private toilets of beneficiaries, rickshaw (garbage rickshaw) for disposal of village garbage and self-help groups for garbage disposal. Has been handed over, etc. arrangements have been established, which are working. This village has been transformed by Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission and the villagers are very happy and hopeful for the future.
