Justice Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai Has officially assuined office as the Chief Justice of India, Successing Justice Sanjiv Khanna. He is the 52st Chief Justice of India.

President of India Droupadi Murmu Administerred the oath to justice gavai at a swearing-in ceremony at the rashtrapati bhavan. He will have a term spilling a little over 6 months Till November 23, 2025.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, JP Nadda, S Jayasankar, Piyush Goel, Arjun Ram Meghwal Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Vice President VP Dhankhar, Formor, CJI Sanjiv Khanna, Former President Ram Nath Kovind etc., was in the audience.

Supreme Court Judges Justices Surya Kant, Ag Masih, PS Narasimha, BV Nagarathna, Bela Trivedi etc.

Upon success as the 52nd CJI, justice gavai is the second cji belonging to the scheduled caste communication after justice kg balakrishnan retired as the caji in 2010. Become the CJI of the country.

He was elevated from the bombay High Court to the Supreme Court on May 24, 2019.
