Raigarh. Strict action is being taken continuously by the police against drug smuggling in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh. In this series, Lailunga police took a major action and arrested a ganja smuggler from Uttar Pradesh, from whom 10 kg ganja was recovered. TI Lailunga, Rajesh Jangade had received information from an informer that a suspicious person was coming towards Lailunga carrying ganja from Odisha on a white Apache motorcycle without number plate. As soon as the information was received, the police team blocked village Jamuna by installing a temporary barrier. After some time, the suspicious person riding on the motorcycle was stopped. During interrogation, he revealed his name as Ashok Kumar Pal (38 years), resident of Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. When the police searched the vehicle, he confessed that he was carrying illegal ganja hidden on top of the petrol tank and in a back bag. During the search, police recovered 10 packets from both the bags, which contained a total of 10 kg of ganja. The value of the seized ganja is estimated at ₹1,00,000, while the motorcycle is worth ₹70,000, thus a total of assets worth ₹1,70,000 were seized. A case was registered against the accused under Section 20B of the NDPS Act and he was sent on judicial remand. In this action, police station in-charge Rajesh Jangade, assistant sub-inspector Chandan Singh Netam, Khemraj Patel, head constable Sumesh Goswami, constable Suresh Minj, constable Arun Ekka and Sukhdev Sai played an important role. The police have also said that strict action will be taken against drug trafficking.
