Integral Coach Factory, Chennai completed the construction of India’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train set on December 17, 2024. It was successfully tested for a short distance of 30 to 40 kilometers for three consecutive days in the first week of last month, where it gained comfortable travel experience at high speed of 180 km per hour. Now, the board said that long distance testing has also been extremely successful.

Approval of construction of 200 Vande India trains
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on Saturday that the government’s efforts to improve the railways in the budget have been continued. For this, Rs 2.52 lakh crore has been allocated and projects such as 17,500 general coaches, 200 Vande Bharat and 100 Amrit Bharat trains have been approved.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav told reporters at Rail Bhavan that new projects worth Rs 4.6 lakh crore have been included in the budget. These will be completed in four to five years. These include laying new lines, doubling, quadruped, new construction, station redevelopment, flyover, underpass and many other projects.

100 Amrit Bharat trains will be constructed
He said that in the next two to three years, 100 Amrit Bharat, 50 Namo India and 200 Vande Bharat (Sleeper and Chair Car) trains will be made. We will connect many short distance cities with new Amrit Bharat trains. Regarding the General Coach, Vaishnav said that in the coming years, 17,500 such coaches have been approved.
