Raipur: Due to the efforts of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, Nava Raipur Atal Nagar is moving towards becoming a city with modern facilities. State Housing and Environment Minister OP Choudhary is trying to prepare Nava Raipur Atal Nagar as a city of the future to be included among the modern cities of the country. One of these schemes is to supply uninterrupted drinking water to the people of Nava Raipur Atal Nagar for the next 25 years. Nava Raipur Development Authority has started its preparations to provide drinking water in future as per the demand of decreasing underground water and increasing population.
For this, a proposal has been prepared to lay a new pipeline from Kodapar near Abhanpur to Thanaud Tila Anicut. This pipeline will be 16 km long and its estimated cost will be around Rs 109 crore. In Nava Raipur Atal Nagar, water is supplied from Tila Anicut. But due to shortage of water during summer, water is supplied from Kodapar to Thanaud through a natural open canal. Water till Kodapar comes from Ravi Shankar reservoir. The distance of the open canal from Kodapar to Thanaud is about 25 km. A large amount of water is lost when released through an open canal over such a long distance. Due to open canal, the actual potential of water is not utilised.
To ensure that the people of Nawa Raipur do not face any water problem and also there is no loss of water, the canal water will be transported to Naya Raipur Atal Nagar through a pipeline instead of the natural canal. By laying the pipeline, the distance from Kodapar to Thanaud will also be reduced and water will reach Thanaud in its actual capacity without any loss. With the implementation and completion of this project, the citizens of the city will not have to face any problem related to drinking water in future.
