In Chhattisgarh’s Naxal-affected Kanker district, Maoists have hung banners threatening to kill a former sarpanch. In the banner-poster, the Naxalites have told the former sarpanch to be a police informer and to be punished in the Jan Adalat. There is panic in the area due to banners and posters put up by Naxalites on Vijayadashami festival. The matter is of Ambeda police station area.
According to the information received, Maoists have tied roadside banners and left pamphlets in the name of Lakhmu Ram Sarfe, former sarpanch of Bade Tevada village of Kanker district. The Naxalites have said that the former sarpanch should be punished by calling the police informer. The Naxalites have said that Lakhmooram does the work of embezzling the money of the laborers, extorting them in the name of employment. He has also been accused of extorting money from contractors in the name of Naxalites.
Naxalites have put up banners and also threw pamphlets in and around Tevada village. In the pamphlets, the former sarpanch has been threatened with death by holding a public court. On information about the throwing of pamphlets and banners by the Naxalites, the police have seized the banners and posters. Due to this act of Maoists, there is an atmosphere of panic in the village including the former sarpanch and his family. The police is investigating the matter Naxalites have killed many public representatives in the past as well.
