Chandigarh After the Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan showed the broken seat allotted to him in the flight of Bhopal-Delhi Air India, Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar has shared pictures of the broken seats of Chandigarh-Delhi flight.
Punjab BJP president sitting on a broken seat
Chauhan had to sit on the broken seat on Saturday but Sunil Jakhar had gone through such experiences on 27 January before him. Jakhar wrote on X-‘It seems that the broken seats, as Shivraj Chauhanji has said, is not the special jurisdiction of Air India.
On January 27, there are some pictures of IndiGo’s Chandigarh-Delhi flight here which have loose cushions on many seats and do not have regular fitted seats as per security rules. The cabin crew expressed his inability to do anything about it as usual and said that I should complain on the company’s website.
The BJP leader tagged Indigo, DGCA and Civil Aviation Minister further and said that I am not worried about the rest of loose cushion or seat.
Letter written to DGCA
Chauhan further said that I am writing so that the DGCA should ensure that the ‘attitude’ of these two major airlines does not spread till the adherence to the safety criteria of services and maintenance of the aircraft.
Indigo apologizes
In response, IndiGo wrote that our seats are designed with removable cushions that are safe by Velcro to ease cleaning and maintenance. Cushions can sometimes remain loose and they may need to be re-installed for better rest.
The airline stressed that security is paramount for its passengers and assured Jakhar that the overall seat design would not be compromised while maintaining security requirements.
