Pahalgam Terror Attack Live Updates: Attari-Wagah Border shuts down completely, 911 Pakistani nationals left India in 7 days – India News

Jammu and Kashmir Pahalgam Terror Attack Live Updates: The Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday revised its earlier order that had called for a border closure on April 30, now allowing Pakistani nationals to exit India through the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Attari. The updated directive is effective immediately, pending required approvals. However, the movement of all other passengers and goods will remain suspended until further notice, according to the official statement.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has urged Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to strongly condemn the “unconscionable” terror attack in Pahalgam and to “de-escalate tensions” with India in order to “maintain peace and security” in South Asia. According to US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce, Rubio also encouraged Pakistan to support the investigation into the attack and to restore direct communication with India.

Rubio also spoke to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, where he reiterated United States’ strong support for working with India against terrorism. He expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives in the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam and urged India to engage with Pakistan in efforts to reduce tensions and promote peace and stability in the South Asian region, as per a statement from Bruce. Jaishankar stated that all those responsible for the Pahalgam terror attack, including its planners and supporters, must face justice. His remarks followed a phone call with Rubio. The EAM stressed on the necessity of holding the perpetrators and their associates accountable during his discussion with Rubio. India has also referred to “cross-border linkages” in connection with the attack and committed to imposing severe punishment on those involved.

Bruce added that both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to holding terrorists accountable for their brutal acts of violence. This development comes amid a rise in ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, following the April 22 Pahalgam attack, in which 26 people—mostly tourists—were killed and many others injured by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists. In response, Indian security forces have intensified anti-terror operations in the Kashmir Valley.

India shuts down airspace for all Pak flights

India and Pakistan have also restricted each other’s airlines from using their airspace. India issued a notice to airmen (NOTAM) just hours after the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, held a meeting to assess the security situation in Jammu & Kashmir. The review also focused on regional developments, following the Prime Minister’s directive giving the armed forces full freedom to respond decisively to the deadly attack that claimed 26 lives.

Additionally, India has taken several steps against Pakistan over its support for cross-border terrorism. These include suspending the Indus Water Treaty and closing the Integrated Check Post at Attari. The government has reportedly granted its armed forces full operational freedom to respond to the Pahalgam attack.

The Indian Army has responded strongly to unprovoked small arms fire from the Pakistan Army across the LoC. Officials said the Army acted swiftly during the ceasefire violation that took place during the night of April 27–28 in areas opposite Kupwara and Poonch districts in Jammu and Kashmir.
