PM Modi’s visit to Sri Lanka in April, plan to strengthen bilateral relations


Prime Minister Narendra Modi will go to Sri Lanka on the beginning of next month i.e. April on an official visit. This visit of PM is considered important to strengthen the relationship between the two countries, increase bilateral cooperation and talk on important issues. During the visit, PM Modi will discuss bilateral issues with the Sri Lanka government. Which includes issues like fishermen disputes, business relations, security cooperation and regional cooperation.

Last year, Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Disanayake came to India. There were many agreements made during this time. PM Modi will visit Sri Lanka to finalize these agreements. This will be the fourth visit of Prime Minister Modi to Sri Lanka since 2015. Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijita Herath gave this statement in response to a question on the discussion on budget allocation in Parliament here.

PM Modi will go to Sri Lanka in early April
Herath said, ‘We have maintained close relations with our neighbor India. Our first diplomatic visit was from India, where we made several agreements on bilateral cooperation ‘. He informed that Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi will come to Sri Lanka in early April. The Foreign Minister also informed that in addition to the inauguration of Sampur Solar Energy Station during PM Modi’s visit, many new settlement memorandum will be signed.

PM will inaugurate solar power plant
Government Electrical Unit Ceylon Electricity Board and NTPC of India had agreed to build a 135 MW solar power plant in Sampur city of East Tinkomali district in 2023, which will be inaugurated. The Foreign Minister said that we will remain neutral without taking anyone’s favor in our foreign policy and will work to maintain national interest.

Sri Lanka is an important neighbor and strategic partner of India. This visit of PM Modi will work to give a new direction to the relationship between the two, especially when there is a need to strengthen economic and political cooperation between the two countries.
