Ambikapur: Raipur-Ambikapur-Bilaspur air service was inaugurated on Thursday, making the date of December 19, 2024 an important milestone in the history of Surguja. The launch of this service will provide affordable air travel, new business and employment opportunities to the people of Surguja and will also encourage tourism in the area. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision that even people wearing slippers should be able to travel by air is now coming true in Surguja. Surguja is now connected to air service under the UDAN scheme of the Central Government.
Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai has started a new chapter for the future of Surguja by inaugurating the Raipur-Ambikapur-Bilaspur air service from Swami Vivekananda Airport. The take-off of the aircraft was honored by giving a water salute at Raipur Airport. The Chief Minister has congratulated the entire people of Surguja on this important achievement.

MP Chintamani Maharaj, while congratulating the residents of Surguja, expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu and Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai. He said that under the Central Government’s UDAN scheme, Darima Airport of Ambikapur has been selected for air service, after which necessary infrastructure was developed here. In October, Prime Minister Modi virtually inaugurated this airport, in which the Chief Minister was also present. Now air service has started from Surguja, due to which the dream of air travel of local residents has come true.
The MP further said that currently the air service has been scheduled for Raipur-Ambikapur-Bilaspur. Their aim is to soon start this service for Varanasi and Ranchi also. Thus, more air travel options will be available to the people of Surguja, which will increase the convenience of their travel. The flight has been flagged off for Bilaspur, which is an important step in the development of this region.
among the first passengers to leave
Anuradha Dubey, Amitoj Singh and Satish Aggarwal were among the first passengers to go from Ambikapur to Bilaspur. Sharing his experience, he said that the commencement of air travel will boost tourism and will also help in the field of medicine and education. Apart from this, it will also be helpful in saving travel time. On this occasion, CEO District Panchayat Nutan Kanwar, local public representatives Madhusudan Shukla, Lalan Pratap Singh, Abhimanyu Gupta, Kailash Mishra, Akhilesh Soni, Bharat Singh Sisodia, Vinod Harsh, Phuleshwari Singh Paikra and other public representatives and a large number of general public participated.
This air service will operate three days a week, namely Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The ticket price has been fixed at Rs 999, which including GST makes the total Rs 1298. At present this service will be provided by 19 seater aircraft.
