Chhattisgarh: A rape accused who was brought for production in the Kunkuri court in Jashpur district escaped after dodging the police. On Tuesday, seven undertrial prisoners were brought from District Jail Jashpur to Kunkuri Additional Sessions Court and Civil Court.
After being produced in the evening, all the accused were being handcuffed from the court jail at 6:30 pm and taken back to Jashpur Jail to sit in the government jail vehicle parked in the court premises. Meanwhile, the accused Khelsai released the handcuffs and ran towards the back side of the court. Before the police could reach him, Khelsai, taking advantage of the darkness, escaped by scaling the back wall.
