Jagdalpur: The reservation process for 48 wards of Municipal Corporation Jagdalpur was completed on Friday. In the process which started at 11 am in the Collectorate’s Prerna Hall, ST, SC and OBC categories got 9-9 and 3 seats respectively. 27 seats have been reserved for the unreserved category. Of these, 9 seats are for women. Out of 3 SC seats, 1 is for women and 2 are open. Out of 9 ST seats, 3 are for women and 6 are open. At the same time, out of total 27 seats of unreserved category, 9 are for women and 18 seats are open.
Baliram Kashyap ward reserved for OBC women
After the completion of the reservation process, the equations of many wards changed. The wards which were expected to be unreserved, became reserved for OBCs and OBC women. Apart from this, the wards of many senior leaders became reserved for women. The wards set aside for OBC and OBC women have spoiled the mathematics of many veterans.
However, Mayor Safira Sahu’s Baliram Kashyap ward has been reserved for OBC women. Last time this ward was OBC free. Whereas Shyama Prasad Mukherjee ward of former leader of opposition Sanjay Pandey has been reserved for OBC women this time. Last time this ward was unreserved free.
An error changed the equation of Balaji Ward
Public representatives and potential contenders from the wards started gathering at the Collectorate since morning to participate in the reservation process. There was activity since morning. During the process of reservation of wards, the breath of the claimants kept going up and down. During the lottery, enthusiasm was seen among the leaders, while many faces were also seen disappointed.
Balaji Ward becomes unreserved free after error: During the reservation process, when the lottery of wards was being done, an error changed the equation of Balaji Ward. Before the error, this ward was reserved for unreserved women, whereas later when the chit came out, this ward became free for unreserved women. This means that from now on both men and women of the general category will be able to present their claims.
