Raipur: A large number of vehicles with high intensity LED headlights are running in the capital, which are sometimes causing accidents. Every second person in the city drives his vehicle on high beam. In such a situation, due to the bright light of LED headlights, there is darkness in front of the drivers for some time. This increases the risk of accidents. Drivers have to take special precautions to avoid any accident at night. Despite this, many drivers in the city drive at high speed against the rules. Despite this, the transport department and traffic police are not taking any action against them. At the same time, exposure to bright light for a long time can also cause permanent eye diseases.
Bright light is causing accidents
To make the vehicle attractive and to spread light over a longer distance, vehicle owners install various types of LED and DRL lights from the market. Their bright lights dazzle the eyes of the drivers coming from the front for some time, due to which there is a possibility of an accident. This is also one of the main reasons for accidents occurring at night in the city. According to the National Crime Records Bureau report, an average of 43% of road accidents that occur every year occur between 6 pm and 12 am. The main reason for this is considered to be lack of high beam and road lights. There is a problem of road lighting at many places in the city and vehicles running on high beam further increase this problem.
Bulbs with more than 60 volts and high beam are illegal.
According to the rules, a bulb of more than 60 watts cannot be installed in the headlight of any vehicle, whether it is LED or ordinary. Car manufacturing companies also do not install bulbs exceeding this limit in vehicles. Only those vehicles are legal, in which DRLs are installed by the company. If someone buys DRL lights from the market and installs them in his vehicle, then it is illegal. In such a case, a challan of up to Rs 10,000 can be made. According to traffic rules, driving with headlights on high beam is not allowed in urban areas.
