In many districts the temperature is being recorded below 5 degrees Celsius. Not only humans but also animals and birds are affected by such low temperatures. Especially cold has a great impact on the milk production of dairy animals. Due to extreme cold, milch animals often fall ill and reduce milk production. Due to this, cattle farmers also have to suffer financial loss. He has appealed to the cattle farmers to take special care of their animals during the winter season. Protect them from cold, do not tie animals in the open at night. Keep them covered with blankets or jute sacks. If possible, keep them in sunlight during the day. He said that special care should be taken about the diet of animals during cold season. There should be more of dry fodder, coarse grains, mustard seed etc. in their diet. He said that animals must be fed jaggery twice a week. He also advised the cattle owners to keep the cattle shed clean and dry. He said that animal shelters and animal sheds should also be disinfected by spraying disinfectant from time to time.
