Bhopal . The second phase of severe cold will come in Madhya Pradesh between 23rd to 25th December. This will last till January 2025. Before this, there will be fog in the northern part of the state i.e. Gwalior, Chambal and Sagar divisions for the next 4-5 days. In Bhopal, Ujjain, Jabalpur the night temperature will remain below 8-10 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has predicted fog in Gwalior, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Niwari, Tikamgarh and Chhatarpur on Thursday. The weather will remain clear at other places. There may be strong sunlight during the day.
There was some respite from the severe cold in the state on Tuesday-Wednesday night. The night temperature has increased by up to 2 degrees Celsius. However, there are many cities where the mercury remained less than 5 degrees Celsius. Pachmarhi was the coldest. The mercury here was recorded at 2.4 degrees. The temperature was 3.5 degrees in Mandla, 3.8 degrees in Umaria, 4 degrees in Naugaon, 5.3 degrees in Tikamgarh, 5.4 degrees in Rewa and 5.6 degrees in Rajgarh. Talking about big cities, the temperature was recorded at 5.2 degrees in Jabalpur, 5.4 degrees in Gwalior, 6.2 degrees in Bhopal, 10 degrees in Ujjain and 11.6 degrees Celsius in Indore. However, a drop in day temperature was seen on Wednesday. In many cities including Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Ujjain, the mercury dropped by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologist VS Yadav said- The condition of cold wave and cold day is over. The temperature will increase for four to five days. Due to which the effect of cold will be reduced. There will be snowfall in North India after the active western disturbance passes. Northern winds will start blowing again. After this, the period of severe cold will come again in the state.
Record breaking cold in December
This time the cold has broken the record in the month of December itself. The situation was such that December was colder than January in the entire state. Cold broke records in many cities including Bhopal. Cold wave lasted for 9 days. The cold wave stopped from Wednesday. December cold in Bhopal broke the record of 58 years. Timings of schools were changed in many districts including Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, while heaters were installed in Van Vihar National Park to protect the animals from cold. Efforts are being made in the temples to protect the Gods from the cold.
