Three people have been arrested for robbing a passenger on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway in Maharashtra’s Palghar district. These include an autorickshaw driver. The Palghar police said on Sunday that the robbery took place on the morning of December 18 when the victim was going to Nala Sopara in an autorickshaw. Assistant Commissioner of Police (Virar Division) Ramchandra Deshmukh said that the accused stopped the auto midway and assaulted the victim and co-passengers. Meanwhile, his mobile phone and Rs 14,000 and other valuables were looted. Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested the autorickshaw driver and two others involved in the robbery, the official said.

Two autorickshaws, 16 mobiles recovered
Palghar police have also recovered two autorickshaws and 16 stolen mobiles from the accused. These cost totally more than Rs 2.35 lakh. The official said the three were involved in five other crimes registered at Valiv police station and one case at DN Nagar.
