Truck and autorickshaw collide in Vadodara, 11 killed

Vadodara | An autorickshaw and a truck collided on National Highway 48 in Dardipura area of ​​Vadodara, Gujarat on Tuesday. At least 11 people lost their lives and four others were injured in this accident.

The seriously injured have been admitted to the government hospital.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Panna Momaya told media persons, according to local eyewitnesses, the driver of the truck going from Surat to Ahmedabad lost control of the steering while trying to avoid a car. The container crossed the divider and collided with the passenger rickshaw. 11 passengers have died so far, the other four passengers are undergoing treatment in the hospital, whose condition is said to be critical.

The container stalled after hitting the autorickshaw, hitting the wall of the Air Force station. A team from the station also helped in the rescue operation.

Fire officer Amit Choudhary told IANS that the container moved forward crushing the passenger rickshaw. The fire brigade had to use cutters to cut the steel of the auto and get the passengers out.

“First we pulled out four, then six and finally three, a total of 13 passengers were rescued,” he said. All were in a state of unconsciousness.
