Bhubaneswar| Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday indicated early assembly elections in Odisha. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said during a conversation with reporters that I have heard that elections can be held early in Odisha. Elections can be held after 8 or 15 months. The Union Minister said that many issues will come up before the next elections and political parties will fight the election with their agenda in a democratic set-up. We have contested the 2019 general election and emerged as the major opposition party in the state. The people of Odisha have a lot of faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will continue to repose this faith in the future.

Commenting on the BJP’s defeat in the Padampur bypoll, the Union Minister said that we humbly accept the people’s mandate. Those commenting on the humiliation of women should not forget that the BJP has got 78 thousand votes there, including the votes of women. On the other hand, increasing atrocities against women in Odisha reflect the real condition of women in the state.

Reacting to the Union Minister’s statement, senior BJD leader Prasanna Acharya said that he said this because he can dissolve the Lok Sabha early. Or has he said this to boost the morale of his party worker after the defeat in the Padampur bypoll. Notably, the BJD defeated the nearest rival BJP candidate in the Padampur bypoll by a huge margin of 42,679 votes.
