Raipur: Governor and Visitor Ramen Deka today held a review meeting of all the private universities and reviewed their educational activities, implementation of the new education policy and other works. The Governor directed all universities to pay special attention to innovation, research and startups. He instructed the universities to conduct their work as per the norms and rules of the University Grants Commission.
In the meeting, Higher Education Department Secretary R. Prasanna, Secretary to the Governor Yashwant Kumar, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Private University Regulatory Commission Brijesh Mishra, Joint Secretary to the Governor, Mrs. Hina Animesh Netam and Vice Chancellors of all private universities were present.
In the meeting, Governor Deka said that private universities have an important role in the field of education. These universities should strictly follow the guidelines and governance rules of the University Grants Commission. Pay special attention to the quality of education in universities, do not make them business institutions. He said that they will have to follow the regulations applicable to private universities. He said that the formation of Regulatory Commission for private universities by the Chhattisgarh government is a very good initiative. The Governor said that Raipur can develop as an education hub for which everyone’s efforts are necessary.
Deka said that the academic calendar should be followed in the interest of the students. He appointed regular teachers and according to the University Grants Commission criteria only eligible teachers were given Ph.D. Gave instructions regarding appointment of guides. He clearly said that universities which do not follow the norms will not be able to provide PhD. He has received as many Ph.D.’s from all the universities till now. Asked to give information about degree awarded.
He said that universities should work in coordination with local and small scale industries for skill development of students. Also took information regarding student exchange programme. He directed that refresher courses and training should be conducted for teachers, so that they remain updated in their subjects so that students also get attracted towards studies and the quality of education can be improved. Also, MOUs have been signed with other universities to improve the quality of higher education. Do it. Universities should also innovate for livelihood. The Governor said that the decisions taken in the meeting should be compulsorily followed and a report should be brought in the next meeting. He talked about reviewing every three months.
Secretary of Higher Education Department R. Prasanna said that the new education policy needs to be implemented properly. Also upload the degree and other documents given to the students digitally. Include new topics in research so that the vision of developed India and developed Chhattisgarh can be realized. He said that the state government has made a scheme to help private universities in research and innovation.
Chhattisgarh Regulatory Commission Chairman Mishra, who was present in the meeting, drew attention to the shortcomings and other issues found during the inspection of various universities.
