New Delhi: Urmila Matondkar made her debut in the film industry as a child artist in the 1980 Marathi movie ‘Zaakol’. She gained recognition with her appearance in the movie ‘Masoom’ starring Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi in the lead roles. The ‘Bas Ek Pal’ actress made her debut in Bollywood as the lead actress opposite Aamir Khan in ‘Rangeela’. Soon after the release of her first film, she became a sensation and won many hearts.
Going down the memory lane, the ‘Bhoot’ actress revealed in one of her recent interviews how she had written a fan mail to Mr. Perfectionist during the dubbing session of ‘Rangeela’. Urmila told Bollywood Hungama, “So, I was dubbing in Sumeet Theatre and when you dub the film, you go through the film several times. The day my dubbing was going to wrap up, I asked for a paper from assistant. Then, I wrote a fan mail to Aamir. I wrote that – ‘After this film, a lot of people will praise you but I just want in humble way be the first one to tell you that you are beyond awesome in this film. You have made ‘Munna’ a legend through this film. I just wanted to tell you that’.”
The ’Pyar Tune Kya Kiya’ actress further praised Aamir Khan’s ability, his passion for cinema, acting and how he just picked up the role of ‘Munna’ and played it so well. The actress revealed that they would do a lot of rehearsals because the ‘3 Idiots’ actor is a ‘perfectionist’, which ultimately reflected on screen. Urmila added, “The song ‘Pyaar Yeh Jaane Kaisa Hai’ was picturised on me and Jackie Shroff. But, the sequences that featured Aamir, it really reflected like someone really hurt your heart. I think, for me, it is the ultimate internalisation of the pain and the grief he is going through while he was thinking that he has lost the girl he loved.”
The ’Pinjar’ actress also disclosed that she forgot to ask Aamir Khan about the letter.
Urmila Matondkar has been in the news lately for her ongoing controversy with Kangana Ranaut.
