Nagaur, In memory of India’s historic victory in the Indo-Pak war of 1971, Vijay Diwas was celebrated ceremoniously with various programs on Monday under the aegis of Nagaur District Sainik Welfare Office. On this occasion, the sacrifice of the martyrs was remembered in a program organized at the Martyr Memorial located at Mundwa Tirahe. Municipal Council Chairperson Mrs. Mitu Bothra, District Collector Mr. Arun Kumar Purohit, Subdivision Officer Mr. Govind Singh Bhichar, District Sainik Welfare Officer Colonel P.P. Singh, Colonel B.R. were present in the program. Chharang, Wing Commander PM Beniwal and Martyr Sugan Singh, son of Mahavir Chakra winner Shri Magusih, remembered the sacrifice of the martyrs by offering Rithat (flower circle) at the Martyr Memorial. NCC cadets were also present on this occasion.
After paying homage to the martyrs, Bharat Singh, martyr in the Indo-Pak war of 1971, Mr. Samdrasingh, nephew of Potalia Manjra, Mr. Samdrasingh, son of martyr Sugan Singh Nagaur, son of Mahavir Chakra winner, Mr. Magusingh, son of martyr Mahphool Khan Fagli, nephew of Mr. Kasam Khan, martyr Khuda Bux Khan, Mr. Usman, son of Kasnau. Eat. Martyr Mrs. Bhanwar Kanwar, Martyr of Martyr Narayan Singh Ladiya and Martyr Mrs. Nanu Devi of Martyr Chaukharam Kudchi were honored with gifts by District Collector Mr. Purohit. Ex-servicemen, family members of martyrs, common citizens and NCC cadets present at the Martyr Memorial site paid tribute to the martyrs by offering flowers at the Martyr Memorial.

A special function was also organized at District Sainik Welfare Office, Nagaur on Vijay Diwas. Colonel P.V. Singh, District Soldier Welfare Officer Nagaur, Colonel BR Chharang, Wing Commander PM Beniwal and NCC in-charge Captain Prem Singh Bugasara expressed their views and appreciated the importance of celebrating Vijay Diwas and the sacrifice of the soldiers while serving the country. He called upon the youth to come forward and play their important role in the interest of the country. On this occasion, all the officers and employees of District Sainik Welfare Office and Sainik Rest Home were present. The program was conducted by Shri Hansraj Naval Additional Administrative Officer.

It is noteworthy that East Pakistan (Bangladesh) emerged after the war with Pakistan. In this war, Pakistan’s army completely accepted defeat and laid down its weapons and surrendered. India’s historic victory in the Indo-Pak war of 1971 was achieved on 16 December 1971. Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year to commemorate this victory.
