Water from tap reached half a million houses in Jal Jeevan Mission


Bhopal: Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, more than 52 lakh 48 thousand rural families of the state have been provided with tap water facility at their homes. Burhanpur district of the state has achieved the title of first “Har Ghar Jal” certified district in the country by ensuring 100% availability of water in the mission to rural households. In the mission, drinking water has been provided to 100 percent families of more than 5 thousand 900 villages in every household.

In every district of the state, continuous work is being done on water supply schemes to provide water from tap to rural households. So far, 90 percent work has been achieved in 4374, 80 percent in 2140, 70 percent in 1651 and 60 percent in 15235 of the water supply schemes of 23 thousand 400 villages.

Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, tap connections are being installed in rural areas and also in Anganwadi centers for the purpose of supplying clean water. So far, arrangements for clean drinking water through tap connections have been made in 41 thousand 60 anganwadis and more than 71 thousand schools of rural areas.
