Patna: Patna High Court has ordered the demolition of more than 100 years old Yusuf Building located at Dakbungla intersection. The court has also ordered to vacate all the shops located in the building within a week. The court has said that if the shops are not vacated within the time limit, the Municipal Corporation will have complete freedom to vacate the shops. The division bench of Chief Justice Justice rejected the petition filed by shopkeeper Prakash Studio and others and refused to interfere with the decision of the single bench.
will follow the court order
It is noteworthy that defendant Afzal had written a letter to the Commissioner of Patna Municipal Corporation requesting permission to demolish the building after examining it. It was said in the letter that the building is 100 years old and the entire building, except the exterior portion on the ground floor, has been lying vacant for four years. Regarding this, the Commissioner of Patna Municipal Corporation said that the order has been given by the court. We will follow it.
Building can be repaired, no need to demolish
The shopkeeper is disappointed after this decision. The shopkeeper said that we are now waiting for the Municipal Corporation to come and demolish the shop. We also went to the court, we said that nothing will happen by demolishing the building. It can be repaired. If a 100 year old building will be demolished then all other buildings should also be demolished. This much rent was taken from the shopkeepers, but till date no repairs have been done.
The shopkeepers said that we have now been evicted. If possible, we should be given a place so that we can continue our livelihood. Our shop has been here since 1950. But now everything is over for us.
