Raipur: Today was a historic day for Chhattisgarh and Chhattisgarh Police. Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah handed over the President’s Badge (Police Colors Award-2024) to the state police in a very dignified program organized at the Police Parade Ground in Raipur today. It is the highest honor given to the armed forces of the country. The state has received this honor for the exceptional services, bravery and devotion to duty of Chhattisgarh Police in the last 24 years. Chhattisgarh is the youngest state in the country to receive this honour, which has achieved this feat in just 24 years of its formation.
Home Minister Amit Shah, while congratulating Chhattisgarh Police at the President’s Badge investiture ceremony, said that the President’s Police Colors Award is not just an honour, it is a symbol of service and duty. The courage and commitment that Chhattisgarh Police has shown in the fight against Naxalism, organized crime and drugs is unprecedented. Chhattisgarh Police has emerged as one of the best and bravest police forces in the country. He said that the Central and State Governments are fully committed to making Chhattisgarh and the country Naxal-free. By March 31, 2026, Naxalism will be completely eliminated from Chhattisgarh and the country. Praising the Chhattisgarh Police, Shah said that it has not only maintained law and order but has also strengthened the public confidence. He expressed hope that the President’s Police Colors Award will become a source of inspiration for the police force and will boost their morale and morale.
Union Home Minister Shah said that it is a matter of pride for me too to hand over the Presidential Medal of Freedom to the brave police of Chhattisgarh. This honor is indicative of the hard work, dedication and affection of the Chhattisgarh Police towards the public. Chhattisgarh Police is preparing to put the last nail in the coffin of Naxalites. The police here has done very good work in law and order and Naxal front as well as in the Corona epidemic. He appealed to the Naxalites to give up their weapons and return to the mainstream. On the success of Chhattisgarh Police in anti-Naxal operations, the Chief Minister said that a large number of Naxalites have surrendered and decided to return to the mainstream. He said that better arrangements and special provisions have been made by the government for the rehabilitation of surrendered Naxalites. As per the policy of the Government of India, arrangements are being made to immediately keep those who surrender, giving up the path of violence, in transit camps. Along with this, arrangements have been made to give them Rs 10,000 per month as stipend for three years. Training will also be provided for their skill development.
Sai said that under the rehabilitation policy, if a Maoist carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh or more surrenders, a provision has been made to give him a maximum of 4 decimal land in urban areas or a maximum of 1 hectare agricultural land in rural areas for housing. With the aim of rehabilitating the surrendered Naxalites and Naxal affected families of the state and providing them a secure life, 15,000 permanent houses have been sanctioned by the Central Government under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural). The Chief Minister said that the efforts like ‘Mahila Thana’, Women Help Desk and ‘Abhivyakti’ app launched by the state police for the safety of women reflect their sensitivity and dedication towards the public.
Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma in his address said that the President’s insignia is a powerful symbol of the courage, service and devotion to duty of Chhattisgarh Police. This beautification of the Presidential Police Mark not only makes the police force proud but will also inspire them to work with new energy and enthusiasm. The state police has proved that it is synonymous with fear for the scoundrels and respect for the gentlemen.
Director General of Police Ashok Juneja, while giving information about the achievements of Chhattisgarh Police in his welcome address, said that since the establishment of the state on November 1, 2000, the police force has shown courage and determination on every front. Referring to the ongoing anti-Naxal operations, rehabilitation policies and anti-narcotics campaigns in Naxal-affected areas, he said that Chhattisgarh Police has always been ready to serve the public.
Chief guest Amit Shah was saluted by the parade at the presidential investiture ceremony. Shah inspected the parade after the salute. Marchpast was also conducted by men and women platoons. Chief guest Shah handed over the President’s flag to Chhattisgarh Police amid tricolor balloons in the sky and spectacular fireworks after chanting of mantras by religious leaders. He also released a coffee table book based on the 24 years of journey of Chhattisgarh Police in the programme. Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan and Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Kumar Deka along with police administration officials, soldiers and families of martyred soldiers were present in large numbers in the ceremony. Additional Director General of Police Vivekananda expressed his gratitude to the guests.
